Introduction
We are looking for a practical, detail-focused Technician to join Paul Rigby Ltd. This role keeps vehicles moving and customers confident by delivering high-quality diagnostic, maintenance and repair work within the Automotive & Driving sector. Purpose of the role
The Technician will diagnose, service and repair vehicles to manufacturer and workshop standards, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely and to a high quality. You will support the workshop team, contribute to vehicle preparation and help maintain a tidy, compliant working environment.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections and vehicle repairs across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and recommend appropriate repairs.
- Complete accurate job cards, time records and parts usage notes.
- Ensure work meets safety and quality standards and that vehicles are roadworthy on handover.
- Maintain tools, equipment and workshop tidiness; report defects or safety issues promptly.
- Collaborate with colleagues and, when required, explain technical matters to customers in clear, non-technical language.

Essential Skills And Experience
- Proven experience working as an automotive technician or mechanic in a workshop environment.
- Good diagnostic skills and familiarity with common workshop tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently under time pressures while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to fault finding.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Desirable Skills And Experience
- Experience with a range of vehicle makes and electronic systems.
- Previous exposure to manufacturer diagnostic software or dealer-level tooling.
- Experience in MOT preparation or knowledge of inspection requirements.
- Relevant technical qualifications or apprenticeship in vehicle maintenance or automotive engineering are preferred.
- Full UK driving licence.

Pay for this role is typically between £30,000 and £36,000 per annum.
