Senior Technician – Technical Operations

We’re working with a specialist technical production company that creates photo, video and experiential technology for live events, brand activations and permanent installations across the UK and internationally.
Working with some of the world's best-known brands, the business combines technical production, creative technology, fabrication and design to turn ambitious ideas into fully working experiences and installations.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys problem solving, building and maintaining technical systems and getting stuck into varied projects.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Technical Production Manager, you'll act as a senior technical point of contact within a small, collaborative team.
You'll support projects from initial planning and workshop testing through to installation, operation and ongoing maintenance.
You'll be involved in:
- Supporting and maintaining permanent technical installations, including fault-finding, repairs, maintenance and system upgrades
- Leading or supporting technical installations, site visits and de-rigs across the UK and internationally
- Installing, configuring, testing and troubleshooting technical systems
- Working closely with developers, fabricators, producers and designers to turn creative ideas into practical technical solutions
- Assessing technical feasibility and identifying requirements around equipment, power, networking, access and installation
- Preparing, configuring and testing systems before deployment
- Diagnosing faults across capture systems, computers, cameras, lighting, displays, printers, networking, cabling and associated hardware
- Acting as a senior technical escalation point for other technicians
- Taking responsibility for the day-to-day organisation and operation of the technical workshop
- Coordinating equipment preparation, testing, packing, maintenance and repairs
- Managing technical stock, spares, components, cables and consumables
- Researching and purchasing technical equipment and working with suppliers and rental companies
- Supporting and developing other technicians through practical guidance, training and knowledge sharing

About You
We're looking for a technically strong, hands-on technician with experience across photo/video capture, AV, experiential technology, events or a related technical environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong practical technical knowledge and excellent fault-finding ability
- A logical and methodical approach to diagnosing technical issues
- Good understanding of video signal flow, connections and distribution
- Working knowledge of networking, including Ethernet, DHCP, static IP addressing and basic network troubleshooting
- Practical soldering, wiring, connectors and cable termination experience
- The ability to communicate technical information clearly and support colleagues effectively
- Strong attention to detail and high standards of technical workmanship
- A willingness to travel regularly for installations and live projects

Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would also be beneficial:
- Event electrical knowledge, including safe power distribution and load calculations
- Audio systems, including speakers, amplifiers and signal flow
- LED systems, drivers, power supplies, controllers and DMX decoders
- DMX and event lighting systems
- Video switching, scaling, conversion, processing or distribution
- Photography and camera systems, including lenses, exposure, lighting and troubleshooting

You'll have the opportunity to work alongside developers, designers, fabricators and producers, with the chance to influence how technical solutions are designed, built and delivered.
Salary: Up to £42,000 depending on experience
Location: London
Working pattern: Approximately 70% office/workshop, 30% on-site
Travel: Regular UK travel with some international projects
