We are seeking a Technician Instructor to join our team

In this role, you will support high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment by providing expert technical instruction, demonstrations, and practical support within the curriculum area. You will work directly with learners, including small groups, to help develop their practical skills, knowledge, and confidence, while preparing and maintaining safe, well-resourced, and industry-standard learning environments.

Working closely with teaching staff and colleagues, you will contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the provision, ensuring learners receive responsive support and opportunities to develop the practical skills and professional behaviors needed for progression, employment, and future success. You will also play an important role in maintaining high standards of safeguarding, inclusion, health and safety, and learner wellbeing.

About the role:

  • To deliver technical skills demonstrations and provide technical instruction for student groups.
  • To prepare materials and equipment as needed by teaching staff and students in a timely, effective, and efficient manner.
  • To maintain an effective and timely stock control system of materials and consumables including the ordering of stock/materials/equipment.
  • To effectively and professionally liaise with teaching staff to ensure students’ needs are met within practical delivery sessions.
  • To maintain workshops, equipment, and tools to the highest standards ensuring statutory requirements are met.
  • To provide classroom support and technical guidance for teaching staff and learners.
  • To contribute to and/or oversee practical, community, or college projects ensuring high standards of work are maintained at all times.

  • Knowledge and experience of current industry legislation, regulations, and health and safety requirements relevant to the painting and decorating sector.
  • Experience of maintaining, servicing, and safely using equipment associated with painting and decorating.
  • Substantial industry experience within the painting and decorating sector.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education to level 2 or above and/or a professional qualification in painting and decorating or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent.
