The Role
A position has become available for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Plumbing Team. The student’s journey at City College Plymouth is at the core of what we do. As a department we continue to adapt to an ever evolving plumbing industry.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a dedicated Technician to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our four workshops. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and organising building assessment bays and framework supports.
- Maintaining and keeping the workshops and stores are in working order.
- Keeping workshop stock up to date and ordering materials as needed.
- Ensuring all tools, power tools, and PPE are in excellent condition.
- Assisting tutors in the practical workshop by providing guidance to learners on practical tasks and training in preparation for assessments.

What Will You Bring To The Role
- Persistence: This role requires persistence because it involves consistently managing resources, maintaining equipment, supporting staff and students, and working efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of safety and organisation.
- Adapting: Engage in regular interaction and communication within the team and across departments. Proactively network and connect with others to enhance the learner's journey.
- Collaborating: Collaboration is important in this role because the technician must work closely with teaching staff, management, colleagues, and students to prepare resources, maintain safe workshops, manage materials, and support the smooth operation of the Plumbing department.
- Problem Solving: Problem solving is essential in this role because the technician must identify and resolve issues with equipment, stock, materials, and workshop operations to ensure teaching staff and students can work safely and effectively without disruption.
