Overview

Technician, R&D Laboratory - E&A

Location: Reading, Berkshire (4x/week), Uxbridge (1x/week)

About the Role

As a Technician, R&D Laboratory - E&A, you will play an important role in supporting the development and improvement of Herbalife products across the Europe & Africa region. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about food science, nutrition, product innovation, and laboratory-based product development.

You will support both existing products and new product development projects, working closely with Product Development, Marketing, Regulatory, Sourcing, and Scientific Affairs teams. The role combines laboratory work, product preparation, tasting sessions, ingredient management, and project support while ensuring the laboratory operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with best development practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Support new product development and product renovation projects across the Europe & Africa region.
  • Develop technical and creative product development skills through hands-on laboratory work and training.
  • Follow established product development procedures and guidelines.
  • Prepare and coordinate bench samples throughout the product development process.
  • Support product evaluations, tastings, and testing activities.
  • Assist with the development, testing, and approval of product preparation instructions.
  • Develop knowledge of ingredients, manufacturing processes, and consumer requirements to support "right first time" product development.
  • Provide information and support during the product commercialization process.
  • Maintain formulas, product information, and project documentation within internal systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Manage laboratory ingredients and ensure timely removal and replacement of expired materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic laboratory environment at all times.
  • Build strong working relationships with Marketing, Regulatory, Sourcing, and Scientific Affairs teams.
  • Monitor consumer trends, ingredient innovations, and developments within the nutrition and supplements market.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Product Development function.

Our Requirements

  • Degree, diploma, or relevant education in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Chemistry, Product Development, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong interest in nutrition, supplements, and product innovation.
  • Ability to work accurately and maintain detailed project records.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Comfortable working within a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Eagerness to learn and build technical expertise within product development.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is an advantage.
