As a Technologist, you will contribute to research programmes focused on fluid formulation and performance across thermal management, e-drive lubrication and industrial fluid applications.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, planning and executing experimental programmes using laboratory, analytical, rig and vehicle-related test methods.
- Developing and evaluating fluid formulations using both existing and emerging raw materials.
- Analysing experimental data, identifying key trends and translating findings into clear technical recommendations.
- Supporting research projects that address current and future technology challenges in collaboration with OEMs, suppliers and external research partners.
- Working closely with formulation, analytical, modelling, testing and product development teams to ensure research outputs are effectively applied.
- Producing high-quality technical reports, presentations and project updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contributing to the development of new testing methodologies and research approaches.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation, intellectual property generation and further technical investigation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
