Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technology Architect and Business Partner to support and strengthen technology capability from an EMEA regional perspective. Reporting to the Regional CIO, EMEA, this is a senior, high-impact role combining business engagement, architecture intake, requirements gathering, solution shaping, strategic architecture support, and hands-on delivery. The role will support the wider enterprise architecture function by helping translate EMEA business needs into clear requirements, pragmatic technology options and well-structured architecture inputs, while continuing to shape and deliver modern data and AI-enabled solutions that improve data accessibility, quality, automation and value from legacy platforms and processes. This is a strategic business facing role working within the Global Technology function.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture, Intake & Business Requirements
- Support the Enterprise Architecture function from an EMEA regional perspective by managing early-stage intake, challenge, triage and shaping of business and technology demand
- Lead discovery, requirements gathering and business analysis activities to define clear business requirements, non-functional requirements, solution options and architectural decision points
- Translate business problems into structured architecture artefacts, including problem statements, capability impact assessments, high-level designs, integration considerations and roadmap inputs
- Ensure alignment with global architecture standards
- Ensure proposed solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, reinsurance and finance operating needs, global technology standards, cyber, risk and operational resilience expectations
- Maintain a strong focus on data, AI, analytics, automation and modern digital platforms as critical enablers of scalable, insight-led and compliant business transformation

- Design and support scalable business, data and AI-enabled solutions across EMEA, while ensuring alignment with wider enterprise architecture direction
- Build and improve data ingestion and transformation pipelines
- Introduce automation and reusable frameworks
- Provide technical leadership to engineering teams
- Support solution selection, architecture governance and design assurance by preparing options papers, architecture views, decision records and implementation recommendations
Business Engagement, Requirements & Value Delivery
- Partner with business stakeholders across actuarial, finance, risk and operations
- Elicit, structure and document business requirements, current-state pain points, target outcomes, process impacts, data dependencies and measurable benefits
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes, reporting, data quality, decision support and operational efficiency across reinsurance and finance value chains
- Lead workshops, interviews and playback sessions to align business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, delivery teams and control functions on scope, requirements and solution direction
Legacy Modernisation & Innovation
- Reduce legacy technology and data debt
- Drive modernisation of platforms and processes
- Explore AI-assisted transformation approaches
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Embed data governance, quality and lineage practices
- Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory frameworks
- Support audit and operational resilience requirements
Enterprise Architecture Alignment & Governance Support
- Collaborate with central Enterprise Architecture and regional architecture stakeholders to progress EMEA architecture intake, design review and governance activities
- Support the EMEA COO and the EMEA strategy office in delivering modern, flexible, business aligned solutions.
- Align EMEA regional solutions with global standards, technology roadmaps, application portfolio direction, data strategy, AI governance and security-by-design principles
- Provide practical architecture support across business capability modelling, requirements traceability, solution options, dependency mapping, risk identification and transition planning
Person Specification
Experience
- Proven experience as a Business Solution, Data, Enterprise or Solution Architect in insurance, reinsurance, financial services or another regulated environment
- Experience delivering both strategic architecture and hands-on solutions
- Experience in regulated environments
- Experience or strong interest in data, AI, workforce enablement and innovate data based solutions
- Strong experience supporting architecture intake, discovery, requirements gathering, business requirements documentation and solution shaping across complex stakeholder groups

Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of modern data architectures and cloud platforms
- Experience with data ingestion and transformation pipelines
- Understanding of governance and data modelling approaches
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks, business capability modelling, application and data architecture, integration patterns, cloud adoption, security requirements and architecture governance processes
- Capable of designing and executing proof of concepts which could require some hands-on use of AI tools but this is not an outright engineering role
Business & Stakeholder Skills
- Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, interviewing, documentation and communication skills
- Ability to translate strategic, operational and regulatory business needs into clear requirements, solution options and business outcomes
- Experience working with actuarial, finance or risk teams
- Enjoys working with business stakeholders
