The Role
We are seeking a strong, hands-on Technology Director to develop and deliver our technical roadmap and lead our engineering, project management, data and IT teams. Working closely with the CEO, and broader senior management team you'll define and implement a technology strategy into an infrastructure that supports our rapid growth and ambitious goals.
We’re looking for a strong leader to act as a key technical voice in planning discussions with the CEO and senior leadership team. Someone who has hands-on experience scaling e-commerce platforms and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and support the team directly when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Roadmap and Leadership
- Own development and execution of the technology roadmap.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms and technologies that provide competitive advantage in the e-commerce landscape.
- Act as a key technical voice in planning discussions with the CEO and cross-functional leads.
- Partner with senior leadership team on strategic planning and initiatives.

Platform & Product Development
- Lead day-to-day development and optimisation of our e-commerce platform, website, mobile app, and supporting systems (e.g., order management, warehousing, fulfilment).
- Ensure platform scalability, performance, security, and uptime as traffic and transactions increase.
- Champion innovation and the adoption of AI/ML driven tools and solutions to efficiencies across the business.
- Embed best practice across all platforms, systems, tools and functions.
Leadership & Team Management
- Build and lead high-performing engineering, data, and IT teams, ensuring the teams deliver to the roadmap.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Attract, retain, and develop top technical talent.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and maintain robust security protocols to protect customer data, systems, and intellectual property.
- Ensure technology compliance with legal, financial, and data privacy regulations alongside the broader senior leadership team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Experience teams to deliver seamless digital experiences.
- Support go-to-market initiatives with technical solutions that drive acquisition, retention, and engagement.
Costs and Vendor management
- Own the technology budget, forecasting, and cost efficiency, and report on performance to the CEO and wider senior leadership team.
- Oversee vendor and supplier relationships including contract negotiations to ensure value and output from our vendors.

More about you
- Proven experience as a Technology Director, or a similar senior hands-on leadership role in a high-growth e-commerce or digital company.
- Strong leadership, delivery management, and communication skills.
- Hands-on experience scaling e-commerce platforms and GCP ecosystem (Shopify Plus, Magento, custom builds, headless commerce solutions, BigQuery) with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and support the team directly when needed.
- Genuine enthusiasm for emerging technology, with experience identifying and implementing AI/ML - driven tools to improve efficiencies.
- Background in direct-to-consumer (DTC), omnichannel retail, or international expansion.
- Strong background in software architecture, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and DevOps.
- Solid understanding of web technologies, APIs, mobile development, and data analytics.
- Experience working in agile product environments with rapid iteration and release cycles.
