Technology Infrastructure Strategy Lead

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Technology Infrastructure Strategy Lead.

Enterprise Infrastructure Overview

Enterprise Infrastructure (EI) sits at the heart of HSBC’s Chief Technology Office (CTO) – operating, maintaining & transforming the on-premise technology infrastructure used by HSBC to host applications & services. EI’s product catalogue spans servers, storage, databases, mainframe, middleware, internal cloud & automation technologies amongst others.

Responsibilities

You’ll lead strategic planning & operating rhythm for the Enterprise Infrastructure leadership team. You’ll shape and drive the infrastructure agenda across priorities such as resilience, modernisation, service quality, financial discipline, and risk management - turning strategy into clear transformation plans and measurable outcomes.

You’ll act as the “glue” across teams: aligning stakeholders, accelerating decision-making, and ensuring the leadership team stays focused on the work that matters most for colleagues and customers who rely on stable, secure, and high-performing technology every day.

Key Tasks

In this role you’ll:

  • Lead the annual and multi-year strategy cycle for Enterprise Infrastructure, defining the vision, priorities and strategic roadmaps
  • Translate Group Technology and business strategy into clear, actionable infrastructure transformation initiatives
  • Develop high-quality executive materials, including strategy packs, decision papers and leadership updates
  • Own the leadership team’s operating rhythm, including regular reviews, strategic deep-dives and governance forums
  • Track delivery of critical portfolio priorities, identifying dependencies, bottlenecks, risks and decisions needed to maintain momentum
  • Partner with Transformation & Change and the Chief Operating Office to support investment planning, budget management and spend transparency
  • Assess infrastructure capacity and capability requirements, supporting workforce planning and resource-allocation decisions
  • Drive productivity, simplification and continuous improvement across processes, tooling and organisational design, while building alignment across senior stakeholders

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Ability to shape infrastructure strategy, roadmaps and transformation plans
  • Understanding of core domains such as compute, storage, databases, cloud and hybrid operating models
  • Strong experience of Infrastructure on premise strategy within Data Centres
  • Experience tracking delivery, dependencies, risks, issues and benefits across complex portfolios
  • Confident producing clear strategy papers, decision materials and concise leadership updates at Exco level
  • Capability in investment planning, budget management, prioritisation and spend transparency
  • Analytical and decision-making skills, data-driven approach to identifying priorities, evaluating trade-offs and managing risk
  • Skilled at bringing together diverse perspectives, creating alignment and accelerating decisions
