Technology Lead – Group Innovation

Shape the Future of Banking Innovation

Location: UK (Hybrid)

Type: Permanent | Senior Leadership-Level Individual Contributor

Are you the technology leader that senior executives trust when the stakes are high and the path forward is unclear?

We are seeking an exceptional Technology Lead, to operate at the heart of a major banking innovation function, acting as the critical bridge between executive innovation leadership and a large-scale technology delivery organisation.

This is not a delivery management role. It is not a hands-on engineering role. It is a rare opportunity for a highly respected technology leader to influence innovation strategy, shape technical direction and provide trusted counsel on some of the bank's most important Horizon 2 initiatives.

The Opportunity

As Technology Lead, you will be the single point of technical engagement between Group Innovation leadership and strategic technology partners, ensuring every innovation initiative benefits from sound technical judgement, architectural coherence, and enterprise-wide thinking.

You will work alongside senior innovation and engineering leaders, helping connect ideas, teams, and technology patterns across a complex ecosystem of labs, venture teams, feature teams and emerging innovation programmes.

This role is designed to focus on what matters most: technology strategy, innovation enablement, executive advisory and cross-functional influence.

What You'll Be Doing

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Success in this role depends as much on influence and relationship-building as technical expertise. You will be adept at navigating complex organisations, reconciling competing viewpoints and building consensus across multiple stakeholder groups.

Strategic Thinking

You are comfortable operating in ambiguity; spotting patterns others miss and making sound judgement calls without having complete information.

What Makes This Role Different?

This is a highly visible, high-impact position with significant influence but no direct line management responsibility.

You won't be measured by project plans, work orders, or operational escalations.

Instead, you'll be valued for:

  • Your judgement
  • Your strategic perspective
  • Your technical authority
  • Your ability to connect ideas, people and innovation outcomes

Ideal Background

You'll likely have experience as a:

  • Chief Architect
  • Enterprise Architect
  • Chief Engineer
  • Distinguished Engineer
  • Technology Director
  • Innovation Technology Lead
  • CTO / Deputy CTO

Apply now and play a pivotal role in defining the next generation of innovation within one of the UK's most ambitious technology environments.
