Technology Manager - Finance
This role is a 2 year fixed term contract position
About the role
We are looking for a Technology Manager with broad enterprise technology delivery experience to lead the strategy, delivery, operation and continuous improvement of Finance Technology services.
The successful candidate will have experience managing technology throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle, working across engineering, architecture, product and business teams to deliver secure, resilient and scalable technology solutions.
What you'll do
- Own technology delivery across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from demand intake, requirements definition and solution design through development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
- Provide leadership and governance across agile and waterfall delivery teams, ensuring solutions are delivered securely, reliably and in line with engineering standards.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, product teams and suppliers to shape solution designs, manage technical dependencies and oversee delivery outcomes.
- Ensure appropriate software engineering practices are followed, including release management, environment management, testing strategies, and operational readiness.
- Lead the delivery of technology change across complex enterprise landscapes, balancing business priorities, technical constraints and operational risk.
- Oversee application lifecycle management, technical debt reduction and platform modernisation initiatives.
- Drive technology delivery for transformation, regulatory, and compliance initiatives.
- Ensure services are secure, resilient, and operationally robust through effective risk, cyber, disaster recovery, and continuity planning.
- Lead service management activities, including incident, problem, and change management, to improve service reliability and performance.
- Manage technology risks, controls, audits, and remediation activities.
- Provide technical governance and assurance across projects and service changes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and delivery partners, ensuring performance and value for money.
- Manage budgets across both change and run activities.
- Lead, coach, and develop internal teams and third-party partners to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Champion automation, innovation, and continuous improvement across the Finance Technology estate.

Essential experience
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements management, solution design, development, testing, release management and production support.
- Broad technology delivery experience across enterprise applications, integrations, cloud platforms, SaaS products and operational services.
- Understanding of modern software delivery practices, including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing and release governance.
- Experience overseeing technology delivery from implementation, service transition and ongoing operational support.
- Ability to challenge technical designs, assess delivery risks and make informed technology decisions whilst not necessarily being a hands-on engineer.
- Experience managing enterprise technology services, including service ownership, operational performance, vendor management and technology governance.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers and outsourced service providers.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
- Experience delivering transformation programmes while maintaining operational stability.
- Knowledge of ITIL, service management, risk management, and technology governance.
- Understanding of cyber security, resilience, disaster recovery, and compliance requirements.
- Commercially astute, with experience managing budgets, contracts, and supplier performance.
- A collaborative leader who can motivate teams, drive accountability, and deliver results.
