Technology Manager, Video Applications

Central London (remote initially, on-site from spring 2027)

PartnerWise is partnering with a world-leading international news organisation to appoint a Technology Manager, Video Applications. This is a pivotal role at the heart of an influential team that owns the full video chain, from camera to customer, for one of the most trusted names in global journalism.

The opportunity

You'll be the organisation's subject matter expert on Media Asset Management, and you'll lead the team that supports it. You'll also help shape where video technology goes next. The MAM runs as a cloud-based SaaS platform, so the role reaches well beyond post-production into live, contribution, distribution, and cloud infrastructure. Next year brings a significant programme of change across live distribution, contribution, and cloud infrastructure, and you'll help design and deliver it.

What you'll do

  • Act as the technical authority and main point of contact for the MAM vendor, and lead the bridge to resolution when things go wrong
  • Assess the wider MAM market ahead of contract renewals, so the organisation always knows whether it has the right platform
  • Lead, support, and develop direct reports, with the team set to grow, including new international hires
  • Own the connections between systems: APIs, integrations, and making sure metadata flows the right way
  • Improve existing workflows, bring new ideas, and contribute to a five-year video technology roadmap
  • Work with editorial, operational, commercial, network, and security teams, and help build business cases for future investment

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What we're looking for

  • Deep, hands-on MAM expertise as an engineer or technologist, not purely an operator. You configure systems, script, work with REST APIs, and understand how platforms connect.
  • Experience with professional editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve
  • Cloud experience, with AWS strongly preferred
  • Broad awareness of the wider broadcast ecosystem: live contribution, video-over-IP, transcoding, streaming, and distribution
  • People leadership experience, or experience providing technical direction to a team
  • Curiosity and drive. Video technology moves fast, and you'll want to know what's next and how to do things better.

Your background could be in a broadcaster or newsroom, a systems integrator, a vendor, or engineering-led product management. A news background is a bonus, not a requirement. Attitude and technical depth matter more than ticking every box.

Why join?

You'll join an ambitious and driven video team defining the technical direction of a global, independent news organisation, alongside people who are deeply passionate about journalism. The scope is big, the impact is visible, and there's real room to make the role your own.
