Technology Ops Model Lead

Location - Remote (UK) occasional travel to London/Sheffield
Rate - £840/day Umbrella
Contract Length - Initially 6 months

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Organisation Design Consultant to support the design and implementation of organisational structures, operating models, workforce strategies, and transformation programmes that enable business performance and growth.

This role will partner with senior leaders, HR teams, and business stakeholders to assess current organisational effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and design future-state organisations aligned with strategic objectives. The successful candidate will combine analytical rigour with strong stakeholder engagement skills to deliver sustainable organisational change.

Key Responsibilities

Organisation Design & Operating Models

  • Lead organisation design projects across business functions and operating units.
  • Design target operating models, organisational structures, governance frameworks, and decision-making processes.
  • Assess organisational effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve performance, accountability, and efficiency.
  • Develop organisation design principles that align with business strategy and future growth ambitions.
  • Evaluate spans and layers, role clarity, reporting lines, and workforce composition.

Strategic Workforce Planning

  • Support workforce planning activities to ensure the organisation has the capabilities required for future success.
  • Conduct workforce analysis, capability assessments, and succession planning reviews.
  • Model future-state organisational scenarios and resource requirements.
  • Identify critical skills and capability gaps across the organisation.

Transformation & Change

  • Support business transformation initiatives through the design and implementation of organisational change.
  • Develop transition plans and implementation roadmaps.
  • Partner with Change Management teams to ensure successful adoption of organisational changes.
  • Mitigate organisational risks associated with restructuring and transformation programmes.

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Analyse organisational data including headcount, cost, productivity, capability, and performance metrics.
  • Produce diagnostic assessments and organisation effectiveness reviews.
  • Develop recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative insights.
  • Create executive-level reports and presentations to support decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with executives, HR leaders, and business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops and design sessions with leadership teams.
  • Challenge existing thinking and provide expert advice on organisation design best practice.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership audiences.

  • Establish organisation design methodologies, frameworks, and toolkits.
  • Ensure organisational structures remain aligned with strategic business priorities.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of implemented organisational changes.
  • Contribute to the development of organisation design capability across the business.

Essential

  • Proven experience in Organisation Design, Operating Model Design, Business Transformation, Consulting, or Workforce Strategy.
  • Strong understanding of organisation design principles and methodologies.
  • Experience conducting organisational diagnostics and effectiveness reviews.
  • Ability to design and implement organisational structures and operating models.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience facilitating workshops with senior leaders and executives.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within a management consulting, transformation, or HR consulting environment.
  • Knowledge of change management frameworks (e.g., Prosci, Kotter).
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or large-scale restructures.
  • Familiarity with workforce planning and people analytics tools.
  • Understanding of Agile operating models and digital transformation programmes.
