Engineer the future of global finance

At Citi, our Tech team doesn’t just support finance – we are helping to redefine it. Every day, $5 trillion crosses through our network. We do business in 180+ countries operating at a scale few can match. From deploying advanced AI to helping shape global markets, we build systems that matter. Look to join a team where your work helps influence economies, your ideas can drive innovation and outcomes, and your growth is backed by mentorship, continuous learning, and flexibility with potential hybrid work opportunities. Help solve real-world challenges that touch millions and get the opportunity to build the future of finance with Citi Tech.

Join a growing, high-impact team in Citi Markets Technology building greenfield Generative AI products that cut across asset classes and move beyond proof-of-concept into real, adopted production value. We work at the frontier of what's possible with LLMs, agents, orchestration, and retrieval — but stay grounded in delivery, governance, usability, and measurable business impact. The team is still small enough for every person to have genuine influence, but already delivering work that is making waves across Markets Technology.

We are looking for a product manager who leads with judgement, not just process — someone who can set a clear vision, decide what's worth building, and turn emerging AI capability into a trusted, scalable, widely used product. The Product Manager will own the thinking that turns innovative build-out into structured adoption and durable product success.

The Role

As a Vice President Product Manager, you will define, shape, and own the strategy and roadmap for next-generation Generative AI products for Markets. Working closely with engineering, business stakeholders, risk and control functions, and technology leadership, you will decide what gets built and why, turning ambiguous business problems into a clear product vision, a disciplined roadmap, and adopted, value-generating capabilities. You will be accountable for whether the product actually gets used and creates value — not just for whether it ships.

Delivery coordination, release management, and stakeholder communication are part of how the job gets done, but they exist in service of that core mandate. We are looking for someone who can see the bigger picture, bring structure to ambiguity, and help us build the right thing.

Product Vision & Strategy

  • Set the product vision and strategy for GenAI capabilities across Markets asset classes, with a clear point of view on where AI creates durable business value
  • Make build, prioritize, and sunset decisions using a structured framework — balancing strategic bets against quick wins, and platform reuse against bespoke build
  • Own the outcome metrics for the product — adoption, usage, retention, and business value delivered — and use them to continuously reshape the roadmap

Discovery & Roadmap

  • Develop a deep understanding of user personas, workflows, and pain points through direct engagement with traders, desks, and business stakeholders, rather than relying solely on inbound requests
  • Run structured discovery and validate hypotheses before committing engineering investment, using product analytics and user feedback to test assumptions
  • Translate validated needs into a prioritized roadmap and a well-defined, refined backlog, ensuring engineering always understands the reasoning behind each priority
  • Use adoption trends, friction points, and competitive/market awareness of the GenAI landscape to continuously evolve the roadmap

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Delivery Partnership

  • Partner with engineers to clarify intent, refine features, resolve ambiguity, and make product calls as they arise during delivery
  • Support agile ceremonies (planning, refinement, retrospectives) as needed to keep the team focused on outcomes rather than process for its own sake
  • Track risks, dependencies, and blockers that affect product outcomes; escalate and help resolve them, rather than simply reporting status

Release & Adoption

  • Own go/no-go release decisions based on risk, readiness, and business value; define acceptance criteria that reflect genuine user needs
  • Coordinate release execution — planning, validation, stakeholder communication — ensuring each release solves the intended problem
  • Own the adoption strategy end-to-end: design onboarding funnels, run demos and training where they materially move adoption, and iterate the product based on usage data
  • Support GenAI governance requirements (model access/PUMA, required documentation, user access management) as part of a compliant path to production

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Represent the product's strategic direction to technology leadership and senior business stakeholders, defending priorities and sequencing decisions with evidence and judgement
  • Manage the book of work for stakeholders as a two-way negotiation over priorities, not a passive intake or status function
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners including PMO, MRM, risk, and controls, translating product strategy for each audience
  • Ensure product documentation (release notes, process guides, user guides, incident records) is maintained to a high standard, whether personally authored or delegated

What We're Looking For

  • Strong product management or product ownership experience in a technology environment, with demonstrated ownership of product strategy and roadmap decisions
  • A track record of making prioritization calls using structured reasoning (e.g., value vs. effort, strategic bets vs. quick wins) and defending those calls to senior stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with genuine interest in product metrics and adoption data, and a willingness to use evidence to challenge assumptions and change direction
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business, technology, risk, and senior management audiences
  • Hands-on experience with Jira or similar agile tooling, and solid understanding of agile delivery practices, applied in service of product outcomes
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business problems into a structured product point of view
  • A user-focused mindset with genuine appreciation for UX, user journeys, and the practical realities of driving adoption
  • Curiosity and a point of view on Generative AI, LLM-based products, and where AI genuinely creates value in financial markets
  • Collaborative, proactive, and organised — able to bring structure and judgement without slowing the team down

What Makes This Role Different

This is not a conventional product role managing a mature backlog, and it is not a delivery or release management role wearing a product title. This is a chance to define how Generative AI products are conceived, prioritized, governed, and adopted across Markets Technology, largely from a blank page.

If you are excited by greenfield AI product development, enjoy partnering closely with engineering, and want a role where your product judgement will genuinely shape outcomes rather than just support someone else's roadmap, we'd love to hear from you.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in product management or product ownership, with clear accountability for product strategy and outcomes (business analysis or technology delivery experience is a plus, not a substitute)
  • Experience in financial services, Markets, trading technology, or regulated technology environments preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to define product strategy and roadmaps, and to defend prioritization calls, backlogs, and delivery milestones in an agile environment
  • Familiarity with Generative AI, LLM-based applications, or data-driven products would be beneficial
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a bias for action
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive outcomes across teams without relying solely on formal authority
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education

  • Bachelor's degree / University degree or equivalent experience
