About the job
On behalf of our client in the specialist sustainability and technology consultancy sector, we are seeking an experienced technology and data solutions professional who can support, design and deliver practical IT, data management, reporting and workflow solutions for client and internal business needs. Increasingly our solutions are exploiting the potential of AI.
This is primarily a technology, data management and business systems role. The successful candidate will help design, support and improve systems solutions often centred on Microsoft platforms, including MS 365, SharePoint, workflow and data analytics, solutions for client and internal programmes.
Our client’s business is in specialist outsourced solutions and consulting serving many of the world’s largest corporates to improve their supply chains’ ESG and reduce carbon goals so experience in these disciplines would also be useful context, but is not essential — the core requirement is practical IT design, technical specification, management of onshore and offshore development partners and user-focused implementation management.
Home office based, with occasional travel to client sites or team events
Full time or flexible part time (minimum 3 days per week)
£45,000–£60,000 (full time salary range)
Salary and package will be dependent on experience. You may have 3 to 5+ years’ experience, perhaps in a corporate, IT services or consulting environment. We have developed a highly successful home-based working formula so this role may suit professionals returning after a career break. Part time working can also be part of a flexible arrangement for our staff.

The role
You will help design, implement and support practical technology solutions across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, data management, reporting, workflow automation and related business systems. The role combines hands-on technology support, technical solution design, supplier coordination and user-facing project delivery.

Central to the role is the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into practical technical specifications, data structures, reporting outputs and workflow solutions. The role will involve management of Azure platforms and Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Forms, Power Automate, Power BI, SQL/data environments, exploitation of emerging CoPilot and other leading AI technologies
In this role, you will work across:
IT Solution Design & Implementation
- Design and implement technology-enabled solutions including reporting platforms, workflow automation, assessment tools, collaboration platforms and data management systems.
Data Management & Reporting
- Improve the way operational, programme and business data is captured, stored, managed, analysed and reported, including dashboards, structured datasets and reporting outputs.
Microsoft 365 / SharePoint / Workflow Support
- Design, configure, support and improve SharePoint sites, document structures, access processes, Forms, workflows and collaboration tools — helping users get the most from the tools they rely on day to day.
Requirements Gathering & Technical Specification
- Work with users and stakeholders to define requirements, document processes, write specifications, user stories and solution designs, and coordinate technical delivery.
Supplier / Developer / IT Support Coordination
- Coordinate outsourced IT providers, developers and technical suppliers to ensure delivery is practical, controlled and aligned with business needs.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions and programme meetings, acting as a practical, trusted point of contact who can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Sustainability / ESG Context
- Support sustainability, ESG or carbon-related reporting projects where relevant. Prior experience in this area is beneficial but not essential.
Candidate requirements
- 3–5+ years’ experience in IT solution delivery, data management, business systems, reporting, workflow automation or technology project delivery.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical specifications, process maps, user stories or solution designs.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, ideally including SharePoint, Forms, Teams, Power Automate and related collaboration tools.
- Experience with data/reporting tools such as Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Fabric, data warehouses, structured datasets or similar platforms.
- Ability to coordinate outsourced IT providers, developers or technical suppliers and hold them to agreed deliverables.
- Comfortable supporting users, resolving practical system/process issues and improving how tools are actually used.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in sustainability, ESG, carbon reporting or professional services would be beneficial but is not essential.

- You have not worked with business systems, data/reporting tools, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, workflow automation or similar platforms.
- You are uncomfortable supporting users, documenting requirements or coordinating technical suppliers.
- You prefer strategy-only work rather than hands-on solution delivery and implementation.
