Technology Strategy & Planning Manager

About the Team

Our Technology Business Management team is central to OSB Group’s technology strategy and execution. We provide expertise in:

  • Technology-enabled business cases
  • Portfolio management
  • Risk and controls
  • Third-party management
  • IT finance
  • Technology-wide communications
  • Organisational design and effectiveness
  • Coordination of cross-functional activities
  • Management information, dashboards, and ExCo/Board reports

We partner closely with Lending, Savings, Domains, and Enabling Functions Value Streams, alongside Engineering, Cyber, Data, and Technology Operations. Our collaborations with Group functions (HR, Finance, Risk, Legal, Operations) help embed technology inputs into broader objectives and deadlines to deliver:

  • A transparent, inter-connected, and value-focused technology environment

The Technology Strategy & Planning Manager must excel in IT governance frameworks, experience in agile and hybrid work environments, and connect diverse functions to drive enterprise-wide improvements.


What You’ll Be Doing

As Technology Strategy & Planning Manager, you will:

  • Provide business-IT insights and strategic analysis, alongside planning and communication expertise to aid the Technology Senior Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess cost, value, risks, dependencies, and delivery capacity.
  • Monitor outcome value realisation and serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Information Officer and the Senior Leadership Team for transparency, governance, and decision-making.
  • Build informal networks internally, co-ordinate with Internal Communications for consistent messaging across town halls, platforms, communities, and engagement opportunities.

  • Supporting the development and delivery of technology strategy, vision, and roadmaps
  • Leading scenario modelling and options analysis for strategic trade-offs
  • Developing/aligning strategic business cases with organisational objectives and priorities
  • Acting as a trusted subject matter expert, providing insights to senior stakeholders, the CIO, and Technical Leadership
  • Tracking portfolio performance and value realisation, delivering data-driven insights
  • Assisting Leadership in uplifting organisational maturity, driving efficiencies, and embedding agile practices
  • Creating high-quality management reports, OKRs/KPIs, and dashboards
  • Strengthening governance frameworks for clarity, accountability, and decision traceability
  • Collating reports, crafting executive level summaries and presenting information for Divisional, Group, and Board communications (committees, governance forums, workshops)
  • Supporting internal communication strategies, town halls, and staff engagement initiatives

  • Competitive base salary: £62,000 - £72,000 (range dependent on experience)

Requirements

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and advisory experience specifically in large-scale, change-oriented environments.
  • Agile frameworks expertise, including embedding agile methods.
  • Ability to influence teams and senior leadership without direct authority, and to simplify complex information.
  • Advanced analytical, organisational, and planning skills.
  • Strategic thinking, business acumen, and technology domain experience.
  • Preferable: Financial Services or regulated environment background.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, with experience using SharePoint for reporting/management highly desirable.
