Throughout our almost 30-year history, we’ve consistently been recognised as a great place to work; in 2026, Capital One was officially ranked 9th in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ list. Hear from our team about what it’s like working at Capital One UK.

A 10-week masterclass in Software Engineering. That's one good thing.

Our Tech teams continuously drive innovation to deliver a positive impact for millions of customers every single day. And that's what makes an internship in technology here like nowhere else. Join us, and you will spend 10 weeks working on real life projects within one of our core engineering teams, where you’ll get to use the latest technologies and learn how to build great platforms, tools and frameworks.

Just look at the impact of our previous interns, who have:

  • Built custom testing tools to support our data analyst team,
  • Enhanced our mobile UI to improve our customers’ financial education,
  • Contributed to our cloud-modernisation journey to boost system reliability and observability,
  • Helped us secure the RNIB “Tried and Tested” accreditation by making our digital platform accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

And it isn’t just about building your technical skills. There's plenty of scope for personal growth too, as you’ll receive high-quality training designed to drive forward your development. Plus, you won't be navigating this alone. There will be a dedicated manager, a professional mentor, and a peer buddy by your side to support and guide you every step of the way.

What you’ll need

We don’t mind what degree or grades you have, but we want to see:

  • You have a good foundation of coding skills (in any language).
  • You have the flexibility and aptitude for problem solving and the learning it takes to master lots of different tools and technologies.
  • How you communicate and collaborate with others.
  • Your enthusiasm for tech and Capital One.

The Recruitment Process

  • Step 1: Apply! We don’t screen CV’s so there’s no need to tailor your CV or attach a cover letter. If you meet the eligibility criteria you will be sent online testing to complete, which will assess the core skills required for the role.
  • Step 2: One-way video interview, looking at your motivations for the role and some examples where you’ve shown the soft skills we’re looking for.
  • Step 3: Virtual assessment day, consisting of a pair programming exercise and a presentation and strengths based interview.
  • Step 4: In-person final interview with one of our Senior Software Engineering Managers, and the opportunity to look around our office.

Where and how you'll work

This is a 10-week fixed-term position based in our Nottingham office.

We embrace a hybrid approach to work. You'll spend three days a week in the office (Tuesday-Thursday), with Monday and Friday being optional work-from-home days.

Our offices are designed to inspire and support you. At our Nottingham head office, you'll find an on-site gym, restaurant and dedicated Learning Loft. Our London office boasts a rooftop running track and coffee bar.

We pride ourselves on hiring the best people, not the same people. Building diverse and inclusive teams is the right thing to do and the smart thing to do. We want to work with top talent: whoever you are, whatever you look like, wherever you come from. We know it’s about what you do, not just what you say. That’s why we make our recruitment process fair and accessible.

We value diversity, inclusion and belonging at our core. We empower our associates to do great work by creating an inclusive culture—one that values diverse perspectives, fosters collaboration and encourages innovative ideas—and a place where associates of all backgrounds can thrive by bringing their most authentic selves to work. We call this our Culture of Belonging, and it rests at the heart of our business.

Our associate-led Business Resource Groups were created to help support our diverse population and include over 10 groups across our offices. Because each Business Resource Group is as unique as the population it serves, they offer a range of activities, networking opportunities, special events and learning programmes to associates.
