TedxTrafford is a CIC and independently organizes TEDx events with the next one taking place on 21st November 2026, in Trafford with future proof: human by Design. The event aims to showcase diverse, thought-provoking talks that spark curiosity, inspire action, and spread ideas worth sharing. Volunteers and speakers collaborate to create a professional, engaging experience for our audience and community. Joining TedxTrafford as a volunteer offers the opportunity to contribute to a globally recognized platform while supporting local voices and communities.
Role Description
This is a volunteer Speaker Coach role focused on voice, delivery, and stage presence for TedxTrafford. The position is hybrid, with activities based in the Trafford and Manchester Area, United Kingdom and some tasks that can be completed from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include coaching speakers on vocal delivery, pacing, and articulation, and helping them refine their stage presence, body language, and audience engagement. The Speaker Coach will provide small-group coaching sessions, give structured feedback on rehearsals, and collaborate with the event team to ensure talks meet TEDx standards. The role also involves supporting speakers with confidence-building techniques, preparing them for technical run-throughs, and being available for guidance during the lead-up to the event and on the event day.

Qualifications

- Experience in public speaking, performance coaching, or presentation skills training, with a focus on voice, delivery, and stage presence.
- Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and tailor coaching approaches to speakers with varied backgrounds and experience levels.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and the ability to build trust with speakers.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment, attending in-person sessions in the Manchester Area while also supporting speakers remotely.
- Familiarity with TED/TEDx style talks or similar speaking formats, and an understanding of storytelling and audience engagement principles.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple speaker coaching schedules, rehearsals, and deadlines leading up to the event date.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with event organizers, technical teams, and other volunteers in a fast-paced, creative setting.
- Prior experience in coaching, theatre, performance, speech and drama, or voice work is beneficial but not required.
