Responsibilities
The Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Automation Specialist provides high-quality data, digital capability, and automation that enables confident commercial decision-making across procurement. The role applies specialist knowledge of data, systems, and automation to ensure information and tools are accurate, reliable, and trustworthy.
Through personal execution and maintenance of digital data and solutions, the role strengthens the way procurement uses systems, data, and automation practically, ensuring outputs are useful, consistent, and adopted.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Deliver and support digitization improvements to the supply chain that simplify processes, reduce manual effort, and improve data quality across procurement.
- Implement and mature digital and automation solutions in line with Dŵr Cymru best practice, ensuring they operate reliably in daily procurement activities.
- Take responsibility for ensuring digitized processes work practically, intervening where systems or automation do not achieve the intended result.
- Monitor the adoption and performance of digital solutions and automation responses and drive improvements where quality or usefulness is not as expected.
- Support the configuration, maintenance, and improvement of procurement systems so that workflows, controls, and data capture operate as intended.
- Manage day-to-day configuration, user access, permissions, and automation within agreed standards.
- Identify and work with ITS colleagues as appropriate to resolve issues with systems affecting the integrity, usefulness, or effectiveness of data management.
- Maintain procurement and system management documentation so that processes are repeatable, auditable, and understandable.
- Maintain procurement and supplier data quality so that it is accurate, complete, and trustworthy.
- Apply data quality rules and standards practically, resolving issues at the source rather than relying on further downstream remediation.
- Identify cyclical data quality issues and take steps to improve how data is captured and maintained.
- Ensure data supports reporting, controls, and commercial intelligence without manual correction.
- Support supplier onboarding processes by ensuring systems, data, and digital steps work smoothly and consistently.
- Resolve data or systems issues related to onboarding that disrupt supplier experience or internal processes.
- Act as Data Steward for supplier and procurement data, applying data quality policies and standards practically, and maintaining data accuracy, completeness, and usefulness.

Qualifications
- Degree level or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline
Experience
- Experience of working with data, digital, or artificial intelligence in ensuring measurable improvement in systems, controls, or insight
Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data architecture
- Knowledge of digital procurement systems
