Telecoms & Network Support Engineer
Join our Digital Services team as a Telecoms & Network Support Engineer, where you’ll play a key role in supporting and maintaining the Trust’s telecommunications and network infrastructure, hardware and systems. This includes IP-based telephony and legacy infrastructure, network hardware, and associated technologies, ensuring they remain reliable, secure, and available in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Working alongside colleagues in both the Voice and Network teams, you’ll contribute to the smooth operation of critical systems that underpin day-to-day business activities. Collaboration is central to the role, as you’ll work closely with wider Digital Services teams to deliver a high-quality, responsive service to users across the organisation.
This is a hands-on technical role that includes cross-site travel and may require participation in an on-call rota, providing out-of-hours support when required. You’ll report to the Head of Data and Voice Services and may also receive direction from Voice, Network, and Digital Services management teams.

Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support for the Trust’s telecommunications and network infrastructure, including IP-based telephony, network hardware, and associated systems.
- Take a proactive role in the configuration, maintenance, and optimisation of voice and network services.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex incidents and faults within agreed Service Level Agreements.
- Monitor system performance and capacity, proactively identifying risks and taking remedial action to prevent service disruption.
- Support and contribute to infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
- Work collaboratively with Voice, Network, and wider Digital Services teams, as well as third-party suppliers.
- Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and support guides, ensuring knowledge transfer across the team.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, industry standards, and security requirements, including data protection and cyber security best practices.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements for telecommunications and network services.
- Deliver excellent customer service, communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Provide out-of-hours support for planned work and critical incident response
- Take ownership of allocated tasks and workstreams, demonstrating initiative and accountability in delivering high-quality outcomes.
