Job Purpose

The Telehandler Engineer is responsible for providing high-quality technical support, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services for Zoomlion telehandler products across the UK. The role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, minimising machine downtime, and delivering excellent after-sales support to customers and authorised dealers.

Working closely with the Service team, Parts department, authorised dealers, and Headquarters, the Telehandler Engineer will support warranty activities, preventative maintenance, technical troubleshooting, and customer training while maintaining Zoomlion's service standards and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Field Service

  • Carry out diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on Zoomlion telehandlers at customer sites, dealer premises, and company facilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults efficiently.
  • Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, inspections, and equipment commissioning in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Respond promptly to technical issues and breakdowns to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Ensure all service activities comply with company procedures, manufacturer specifications, and relevant health and safety regulations.

Dealer Network & Technical Support

  • Provide technical assistance to authorised dealers and third-party service providers regarding telehandler maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Support dealer technicians in resolving complex technical issues and improving their product knowledge.
  • Assist with technical training, service procedures, and the implementation of Zoomlion service standards.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and communicate findings to the Service team and Headquarters.
  • Support the development of effective service coverage across the UK.

After-Sales Service Operations

  • Deliver high-quality after-sales support to customers, ensuring timely and effective resolution of service requests.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, diagnostic findings, and repair documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Service Manager and Parts team to ensure required spare parts and technical resources are available.
  • Support pre-delivery inspections (PDI), machine commissioning, and handovers where required.
  • Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.

Warranty & Technical Reporting

  • Conduct warranty inspections and repairs in accordance with Zoomlion warranty policies and procedures.
  • Collect technical evidence, fault descriptions, photographs, and diagnostic information to support warranty claims.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and communicate findings to the Service Manager and Headquarters.
  • Assist in identifying product quality issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure warranty-related documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.

Parts & Preventative Maintenance

  • Work closely with the Parts team to identify and source appropriate replacement parts.
  • Support preventative maintenance programmes to improve equipment performance and extend machine service life.
  • Identify opportunities to improve parts availability and reduce equipment downtime.
  • Advise customers and dealers on correct machine operation, routine maintenance, and servicing requirements.

  • Provide professional on-site technical support to customers and key accounts.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, dealers, and internal teams.
  • Explain technical issues, repair requirements, and maintenance recommendations clearly to customers.
  • Support customer training and machine demonstrations when required.
  • Represent Zoomlion professionally during customer visits and service activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Plant Engineer, Telehandler Engineer, or similar technical role within the construction equipment industry.
  • Strong knowledge of telehandlers, material handling equipment, or related construction machinery.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Experience working with equipment manufacturers, dealerships, or plant hire companies is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, hydraulic schematics, and electrical diagrams.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK.
