We’re made for each other

At the West Brom, we know solid futures don’t happen overnight. So, whether our customers are looking to own their first home or have savings they can rely on, we’ll do everything we can to help them build the life they want bit by bit. We’re all about customer experience, which means we do the right thing, not just the easy thing. Whatever your role, you’ll put the customer at the heart of everything you do and make a positive lifelong impression.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing a service so good that our brokers shout about us.
  • Be there when our brokers need us in a way which suits them. You’ll communicate with brokers over the phone and by email along with representing the Society at road shows, industry events and functions.
  • Managing and developing your designated territory by creating long-lasting relationships with new and existing brokers to grow business opportunities and increase multiple submitters.
  • Handling queries with confidence whether it’s about our products, services, or anything else they need.
  • Staying up to date on all our products and services so you’re always ready to share your knowledge and support with our brokers whilst thinking of ways to make improvements.
  • Managing applications through to completion where possible to make the broker experience easy.
  • Networking and relationship building with stakeholders inside and outside the Society.
  • Developing business plans and engaging in regular sales meetings to look for ways to deliver business objectives.

What we’re looking for:

  • An individual who can work on their own initiative in the pursuit of business objectives.
  • Someone who shows up every day with a positive, helpful, and supportive attitude and makes a heartfelt impression on our brokers.
  • A calm, clear, and confident communicator who can get their point across, as well as making other people feel heard regardless of the audience.
  • Specialist knowledge of the intermediary market including understanding of the competitor market across a range of market segments.
  • A high degree of analytical skills to utilise all aspects of the Intermediary market including tools such as competitor websites, strategic mortgage publications and an understanding of the relevant trade bodies (IMLA, AMI, UK Finance etc).
  • Sound understanding of the legal and legislative framework that influences the Financial Services sector.
  • Someone who can work under pressure when there is business requirement changes as well as market changes.
  • An effective diary planner who can ensure a strategic calling pattern and optimal use of time and mileage as agreed with Head of Intermediaries.
  • An influencer – someone who can communicate and influence at the highest levels both internally and externally.
  • A customer centric person who holds a genuine interest in brokers and their needs.
  • Previous experience in business development with ideally 2 years in the intermediary mortgage market.
  • You’ll need to be fluent in the Society’s Lending Policy and products.
  • CeMap is preferred or someone working towards the qualification will be considered.
  • Robust understanding of the strategic drivers underpinning the UK financial services market across a broad product base, specifically intermediary mortgage distribution. This knowledge must be kept up to date by undertaking continual professional development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
