Junior Desktop Support Technician (Temp role)
As a Junior Desktop Support Technician, you will be responsible for providing first-line IT support to colleagues across our London office and global locations. You will assist with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of desktop, laptop, mobile, and audio-visual technologies, helping to deliver an excellent end-user experience.
Working alongside experienced members of the IT team, you will gain hands-on experience supporting a wide range of technologies while developing your technical and customer service skills.
Main Responsibilities
- Based in the London office, provide first-line IT support to local and global users via phone, remote support tools, and in-person assistance.
- Assist users with hardware, software, and connectivity issues, escalating more complex incidents when required.
- Support the installation, configuration, and replacement of desktop and laptop computers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
- Assist with the support of meeting room technology, video conferencing systems, and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Provide support for trading floor technologies, including Bloomberg and IPC systems.
- Log, track, and update support tickets to ensure issues are resolved within agreed service levels.
- Assist with office moves, equipment deployments, and hardware refresh activities.
- Participate in system upgrades, software rollouts, and IT improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate documentation of support procedures and common solutions.
- Support client events and meetings by ensuring audio-visual equipment is functioning correctly.

This role operates on a rotating shift pattern to ensure adequate support coverage for business users and trading floor operations. Shifts will alternate between:
- Early Shift: 07:30 – 16:00
- Late Shift: 09:00 – 17:30
Flexibility may occasionally be required to support project work, technology rollouts, or business-critical activities outside of standard hours.
Client Interaction
- Deliver a professional and customer-focused support experience.
- Communicate technical issues clearly to end users and provide regular updates on support requests.
- Work closely with colleagues, vendors, and other IT teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and improving service delivery.
Projects and Development
- Participate in local and global IT initiatives and technology rollouts.
- Gain exposure to enterprise technologies, infrastructure, and support processes.
- Develop technical knowledge through training, mentoring, and hands-on experience.
- Contribute ideas to improve team processes and user experience.
Qualifications And Experience
- 1-2 years' experience in an IT support, service desk, or customer-facing technical role (including internships or placements).
- Good understanding of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Basic knowledge of desktop, laptop, and mobile device troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and remote support tools is beneficial.
- Interest in audio-visual and collaboration technologies such as Teams, Zoom, Cisco, or Poly.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and develop technical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar entry-level IT certifications.
- Microsoft Fundamentals certifications.
- ITIL Foundation (or willingness to obtain).
