Temporary Health & Safety Advisor - Sevenoaks (driver essential due to location)

Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health & Safety Advisor to join a busy and welcoming educational environment on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make an immediate impact by reviewing, updating, and strengthening health and safety processes across the organisation.

Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide expert advice and ensure the organisation remains compliant with all current health and safety legislation, creating a safe environment for staff, students, visitors, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, develop, and update health & safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments in line with current legislation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior leadership on all health & safety matters.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring appropriate reporting and follow-up actions are completed.
  • Coordinate and deliver health & safety training and inductions, including fire safety, first aid, and manual handling.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of existing health & safety procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Liaise with external bodies including regulatory authorities, contractors, and specialist providers.
  • Ensure fire safety systems, evacuation procedures, and testing schedules are maintained and compliant.
  • Maintain accurate health & safety records, documentation, and compliance reports.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.

About You

✅ NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent)
✅ Previous experience in a Health & Safety Advisor or similar role
✅ Strong knowledge of current UK health & safety legislation
✅ Experience conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments
✅ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
✅ Ability to work independently and confidently advise senior managers
✅ Education sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential
