Role Description This temporary health care assistant role is a part-time, on-site position based at Malpas Brook Health Centre in Newport. The health care assistant will support clinical staff, taking blood, wounds, and dressings, ECGs, vaccinations, and injections, and assisting with basic clinical procedures, and helping to manage patient flow throughout the day. - Taking and recording observations as directed
- Ensuring equipment and supplies are stocked
- Maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients and staff
- Providing courteous front-line support to patients, such as helping with mobility, answering routine queries, and respecting confidentiality at all times
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the wider practice team to ensure efficient operations and high-quality patient experiences.
Qualifications
- Experience in a health care assistant, support worker, or similar patient-facing role in a clinical or care setting
- Knowledge of basic clinical procedures and infection prevention practices, with the ability to follow clear protocols and instructions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work sensitively with patients from varied backgrounds
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing priorities within a busy practice
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality, dignity, and respect at all times
- Basic IT skills to use practice systems for recording information and supporting administrative processes
- Relevant health or social care training or certification is desirable; prior NHS or primary care experience is an advantage
