TEMPORARY PURCHASE LEDGER CLERK / ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

SALFORD, GREATER MANCHESTER (HYBRID WORKING)

£15.40 to £17.50 PER HOUR + IMMEDIATE START

TEMPORARY CONTRACT WITH POTENTIAL TO BECOME PERMANENT

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We're partnering with a well-established business in Salford that is looking to recruit an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk / Accounts Assistant on an immediate temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong Purchase Ledger experience and Xero knowledge who can hit the ground running.

The role will involve managing high volumes of purchase invoices, supplier payments, sales ledger transactions and month-end reconciliations, whilst helping to clear an existing backlog.

THE PURCHASE LEDGER CLERK / ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT ROLE:

  • Processing high volumes of purchase invoices using Xero, ensuring accurate coding, matching and authorisation
  • Managing the purchase ledger from invoice receipt through to supplier payment
  • Reconciling supplier statements, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding queries
  • Preparing supplier payment runs and ensuring payments are processed within agreed terms
  • Maintaining supplier records and liaising with suppliers and internal departments regarding queries
  • Recording daily sales transactions from various revenue streams, ensuring accurate allocation and reconciliation
  • Clearing an existing backlog of purchase ledger transactions and outstanding finance administration
  • Completing month-end ledger reconciliations and supporting month-end reporting
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc duties

  • Experience within a Purchase Ledger Clerk, Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Accounts Payable role
  • Strong Purchase Ledger experience, including high-volume invoice processing, is essential
  • Confident using Xero independently is essential
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliations and financial data
  • Sales Ledger and month-end reconciliation experience would be advantageous
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to hit the ground running
  • Available to start immediately or at short notice following a video interview
