37.5 Hours per Week
Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist palliative care, free of charge, for patients and families across Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire, Barmouth and the border towns, including Oswestry and Whitchurch. With only 20% of our £5.6m annual running costs funded by government, our staff and more than 400 volunteers play a vital role in serving the local community.
We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join our Family Support Team on a temporary basis initially for 3 months.
Duties will include:
- To provide pre-bereavement and post bereavement support to children and young people under the age of 18 who are resident in the Hospice catchment area.
- To deliver support appropriate to the age and ability of the child and young person in one-to-one and group settings.
- To provide pre and post bereavement support to adults who are the significant others of patients known to Nightingale House Hospice.
- To act as a resource for Hospice staff and those accessing Hospice services by offering specialist social work knowledge and skills.
- To act at all times within own limitations of knowledge, expertise, and competence.
- To participate in department and Hospice research and audit.
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
- To ensure all of the above are in accordance with all Nightingale House Hospice policies, procedures, and guidelines.

You will bring excellent organisational skills, flexibility and a proactive approach, working collaboratively with other professionals to promote family support services for people accessing hospice services, staff and the wider community.
Your skills and experience will enhance the Family Support Teams approach to bereavement support and strengthen support for people connected with hospice services who are anticipating death and loss.
