Role Description

The Temporary Weekend Team Lead is a part-time (16 hours) on-site position based at Different Dog’s facility in Telford. This role oversees weekend productions, ensuring that fresh dog food is prepared and packed efficiently, and to high-quality standards. The Team Lead will coordinate and support a small team in the kitchen and packing rooms, allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures. Responsibilities include completing shift reports, resolving operational issues, and communicating clearly with supervisors and other departments. The role also involves coaching team members, promoting a positive and inclusive working environment, and responding flexibly to changing production needs over the weekend.

  • Leadership and people management skills, including experience supervising teams in a production, warehouse, or food manufacturing environment.
  • Operational and organizational skills, such as coordinating workflows, managing priorities, and meeting shift targets under time pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to give clear instructions, provide feedback, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Awareness of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety practices, with the ability to ensure team compliance and complete relevant documentation.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify issues quickly, maintain quality standards, and improve processes where possible.
  • Willingness to work weekend shifts on-site in Telford, with reliability, punctuality, and a hands-on approach to supporting the team.
  • Previous experience in the food industry, FMCG, or a similar operational setting is beneficial; a relevant vocational qualification or training in food safety is an advantage.
  • Genuine interest in dog welfare, nutrition, and sustainable practices, aligning with Different Dog’s mission and values.
