About The Role

At Balfour Beatty Power T&D, we're delivering some of the UK's most significant energy infrastructure projects. We are now looking for an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to join our team on the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project, a major programme of works supporting the future resilience of Scotland's electricity network. Based at our Fort Augustus project hub, this is an opportunity to play a critical role in the safe planning, coordination and delivery of complex temporary works across a large-scale transmission project.

What you'll be doing

As the appointed Temporary Works Coordinator, you will take ownership of the temporary works process across the project, ensuring all activities are planned, designed, implemented and dismantled safely and in accordance with BS5975 and Balfour Beatty procedures.

You Will

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all temporary works activities on the project.
  • Coordinate Temporary Works Designers, Permanent Works Designers, site teams, subcontractors and client representatives.
  • Review and manage temporary works design briefs, ensuring site conditions and construction requirements are fully captured.
  • Ensure temporary works designs are checked, approved and implemented in accordance with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Maintain the Temporary Works Register and all associated documentation.
  • Issue permits and manage hold points, ensuring inspections are completed before temporary works are loaded, used or dismantled.
  • Identify and mitigate temporary works risks, ensuring robust controls are in place.
  • Monitor compliance through regular inspections, audits and engagement with site teams.
  • Promote best practice and provide guidance to project personnel on temporary works requirements.
  • Work closely with construction, engineering and subcontractor teams to ensure seamless integration between temporary and permanent works.

Typical temporary works on the project may include excavation support systems, formwork, crane and piling platforms, scaffolding, temporary roads, access solutions, temporary bridges, backstays, temporary steelwork and overhead line protection systems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
