Role Description
The Tenant Support Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Birmingham, responsible for providing day-to-day support to tenants living in Attentive Housing properties. This role includes:
- Conducting regular property visits
- Checking tenant wellbeing
- Ensuring that accommodation standards are maintained in line with regulatory and company requirements

The Tenant Support Officer will help tenants understand their rights and responsibilities, assist with basic housing-related queries, and signpost individuals to appropriate external support services where needed. The role involves:

- Liaising with local councils, housing associations, and internal teams to resolve tenancy issues
- Coordinating move-ins and move-outs
- Managing basic documentation and records
The Tenant Support Officer is expected to:
- Contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
- Handle sensitive situations with discretion
- Escalate safeguarding concerns in line with policy
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills to build trust with tenants and partner organizations.
- Experience in housing support, social care, community work, or a related field, ideally working with vulnerable individuals.
- Good organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills, with the ability to manage multiple properties and tenant needs.
- Knowledge of basic housing regulations, tenancy rights, and safeguarding principles, or willingness to learn quickly.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with complex or challenging situations and to de-escalate conflicts appropriately.
- Competence in using email, spreadsheets, and housing or case management systems to document activities and communicate with stakeholders.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and non-discriminatory practice, with a person-centered approach to tenant support.
- Willingness and ability to travel between properties in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands as required.
- Relevant training or qualifications in housing, social work, or support services are beneficial but not essential.
