The Vacancy
Principal / Senior Consultant – Tender Manager
CBEC have an enviable tender success record and an effective and experienced team. As the company has grown it is now time for an efficient and effective Tender Manager to lead on tender activities as we move forward. The position involving the co-ordination and management of proposals across CBEC’s north, south and international teams, following CBEC’s quality assurance procedures at all times. AI will play a role in CBEC tendering in the future and the position will require someone who is either conversant with the use of AI for bid writing already or is willing to learn.
You will work closely with highly experienced Team Leads who have successfully led tendering for their teams, and experienced Technical Leads who are proficient at providing specialist input to bid documents. The role will also involve attending meetings as required and taking a pro-active approach to training and professional development. The role will be supported by CBEC’s Administration team.
This role is being advertised as a full-time position however, we are very happy to consider applications from people looking for part-time hours (at a minimum of 24 hours per week).
This is open to UK wide applicants with a hybrid mix of home and office work.
The role will be subject to a 6 month probationary period to determine the effectiveness of the position and candidate.
Core Responsibilities
- Integration of AI into the bid writing process to improve bid quality and efficiency
- Coordination of company-wide proposals
- Coordination and submission of Framework bids
- Responsible for monitoring and co-ordination of responses to opportunities on RSK Marketplace
- Tailoring proposals to clients and project needs
- Direct liaison with Clients where required at tender stage
- Editing and proof-reading final proposals
- Develop and maintain tender library of supporting materials for CBEC proposals (e.g. Team CVs, case studies, boilerplate text etc )
- Close liaison with technical team members to obtain necessary input to proposals
- Working with senior staff and the admin team to streamline and improve tendering processes
- Pro-active approach to organising and planning own workload
- Attending (virtual and, when required, in person) team meetings and other staff meetings
- Undertaking training relevant to the position as required
- Adhering to all Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) requirements in line with CBEC/RSK Protocols and ISO accreditations

Secondary Responsibilities (as Required)
- Supporting senior staff with marketing and business development opportunities
- Working with admin staff to maximise CBEC’s awareness of tender opportunities
To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect CBEC’s evolving needs, you may be asked to perform additional tasks that may be reasonably expected within your level of capability without additional remuneration.
Essential Criteria
- Excellent writing/editing skills
- Experience of successful proposal drafting
- Formatting large documents in Word
Desirable Criteria
- Use of Copilot, Cowork or similar
- Background in environmental science
Salary And Benefits
Between £32,000.00 and 42,500.00 p.a depending on level and experience (pro rata for part-time hours).
