Reporting to: Tennis Technical Manager

Tennis Technical Team member alongside Technical Manager, Technical Project Managers and Technical Leads

Why Hawk-Eye & Why Tennis?

Join us at Hawk-Eye and be part of an exhilarating journey through the world of sports events. Our operations teams play a crucial role in delivering high-quality experiences at major sporting events worldwide. These are the different areas that you can explore:

  • Technical: Testing, improving and stress testing our systems to enhance the performance of our delivery across the tours.
  • Creative: Working closely with TV directors and external broadcasters to provide statistics and storytelling of insights across tennis matches during live broadcasts.
  • Operations: Reviewing, improving and strategising how we improve the efficiency of delivery across the globe.
  • Projects: On-site management of our service delivery across the globe. Liaising with external stakeholders to organise our technical requirements to be ready and sites to be prepared for our arrival, and to deliver our services to the deadline of the events.
  • Broadcast Production: Rigging and directing live TV broadcasts across the Masters 1000s ATP tour.

Who is the Tennis Technical Team?

The Tennis Technical Team oversees all technical aspects of the department, including the planning and delivery of our technology at events, testing and roll out of new software releases and new products, and advising on hardware specifications. They also directly impact the long term product roadmaps for tennis through reporting bugs, feature requests and new ideas through to the Product and Development teams.

As Data Lead you will fit in as part of the technical pillar within Tennis. At each event there is a Technical Guarantee whose role it is to oversee our full technical delivery including the delivery of our data - this includes the hardware and software set up of Hawk-Eye’s Tennis Data Platform on site. It is this data platform that you as Data Lead will oversee and manage from event to event, ensuring we are producing data that is not only accurate but also distributed in a timely fashion to all contracted clients, meeting all quality of service requirements and service level agreements.

As part of the technical team you will also be regularly interacting with the Product team in order to report detailed findings on the Tennis Data Platform and to continuously move the product forward, ensuring that it is as easy to use as possible. You will also liaise with the Commercial team and Clients to understand all delivery requirements, new services & products requiring data feeds, and advise on the contractual commitments of Hawk-Eye’s data delivery. Equally you will play a pivotal role in educating the operations team to ensure they are best set up for success at every event.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What the job is all about

The role is all about managing the day to day data services that we deliver across all our Tennis events that take place around the globe. In 2021 we rolled out our Tennis Data Platform which manages and produces a whole host of data feeds that are then distributed at various latencies to clients and third parties, as well as used internally to drive products. The management of this live service is essential as well as the storage of the historical data for future use. Data capture and delivery is one of the key foundational services that we provide in the tennis market requiring technical expertise, high attention to detail and well organised individuals to manage it.

Alongside the day to day management of live delivery, the Data Lead will also be driving and testing improvements while working to bring new features to the Tennis Data Platform that improve various aspects of Hawk-Eye’s overall service delivery at tennis events around the World. Equally, the Data Lead will be responsible for onboarding new clients, and supporting the testing of new feeds and features with existing clients.

Our data performance is constantly being assessed by meeting necessary contract service levels. A big part of this role will be producing and assessing data delivery reports, to provide both clients and senior tennis stakeholders with an accurate picture of our data performance from event to event, pinpointing areas of improvement and then helping to implement changes both technically and operationally to address those identified problem areas.

As well as being hands on with the data delivery and assessment, the ideal candidate for this role will also be capable of working with a team of people across operations, product and development teams, as well as clients. There will also be an expectation that this person can manage and coordinate a wider group of people through excellent communication and people management skills, in order to ensure both our live and post event data delivery is fully up to date throughout the tennis calendar year.

There is an expectation for them to have line management capabilities but it is not a requirement of this role.
