Test & Acceptance Engineer

Dorset Innovation Park, Winfrith Newburgh, Dorchester
Permanent | Full-Time
Security Clearance: Full SC required

The Opportunity

TKMS ATLAS UK is looking for a Test & Acceptance Engineer to join its engineering team at Dorset Innovation Park.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in the testing, verification and acceptance of complex engineering products within a highly regulated maritime and defence environment.

You will lead testing activities across allocated projects, develop test documentation and work closely with engineering, project and customer teams to ensure products meet the required technical, quality and compliance standards.

You will also have the opportunity to coordinate and support a small team of Test Engineers, helping to allocate work and develop team capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate test activities and test phases across allocated projects
  • Manage and support a small team of Test Engineers
  • Develop test plans, procedures, schedules and supporting documentation
  • Plan and deliver verification and qualification testing within agreed budgets and timescales
  • Undertake testing and develop effective test solutions
  • Support system integration and Set to Work activities
  • Analyse and evaluate test evidence and interpret test data
  • Produce, review and authorise technical test reports and documentation
  • Ensure testing complies with relevant internal, external, safety and regulatory requirements
  • Support customer acceptance of products
  • Maintain configuration control of tested products and supporting documentation
  • Provide testing expertise across multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Support the Test & Acceptance Manager with project and bid activities
  • Contribute to the implementation of the company's Test & Acceptance strategy

Requirements

We are interested in candidates with an engineering or scientific background who have experience working within testing, verification or acceptance environments.

You should ideally have:

  • An Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Aerospace Engineering or a relevant scientific discipline
  • Experience testing hardware and software within a commercial or military environment
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and their application to multidisciplinary projects
  • Experience working towards customer acceptance of engineering products
  • Understanding of electrical and/or mechanical testing
  • Experience with environmental testing would be highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Defence Standards, particularly DEF-STAN and MIL-STD
  • Experience with PLM systems such as SAP and/or Teamcenter
  • Knowledge of DOORS/DOORS NG would be advantageous
  • The ability to analyse complex problems and critically review results and testing methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentations
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience within maritime and military systems would be advantageous. However, candidates from other highly regulated industries such as aerospace, nuclear or rail will also be considered. Experience or a specialism in an engineering discipline such as electrical, mechanical or acoustics would also be beneficial.

The role will involve supporting and coordinating a small team of Test Engineers, including:

  • Allocating resources and tasking across projects
  • Coordinating team activities
  • Supporting the delivery of project testing requirements
  • Mentoring and developing team members
