Job Title: Test and Acceptance Engineer

Location: Christchurch - Onsite only

Salary: Up to £45,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a Test and Acceptance Engineer at our Christchurch site.

This long-term and on-site appointment is a complement to the existing wider team that provides support to a fully integrated command and control system for the MoD. This exciting systems & software programme covers many disciplines including design, development, installation, implementation, integration, acceptance, training and logistics support, please note this is a full time onsite with travel to customer site as required.

Core duties:

  • Design, develop, and execute test activities to ensure systems perform as expected and meet project requirements.
  • Support the full testing lifecycle, including defect investigation, verification, validation, and the creation of clear test documentation and reports.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to maintain and manage test environments, deployments, configurations, and software updates.
  • Participate in customer acceptance testing and collaborate with stakeholders to demonstrate system performance and quality.
  • Contribute to test planning and delivery, bringing practical testing experience and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a collaborative team environment.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in software testing across integration, regression, user acceptance, functional, non-functional, and performance testing, with an ISTQB Foundation qualification (or equivalent) desirable.
  • Strong ability to evaluate requirements and translate them into comprehensive test scenarios, test cases, and execution plans.
  • Experienced in identifying, investigating, documenting, and communicating defects, with proficient use of defect management and tracking tools to support development teams.
  • Sound technical knowledge of Windows environments, including Active Directory, with the ability to utilise PowerShell and Command Prompt tools to support test execution and troubleshooting.

The Test Team:

Responsible for assuring system quality, reliability, and performance through hands-on testing, defect identification, and results reporting. You will be a part of a team working closely with testers, developers, and stakeholders where you will design and execute test cases to ensure solutions meet business and user requirements. A diploma or degree in an engineering-related discipline is desirable.
