Job Title: Test and Development Technician

Location: Farnborough

Our Vision & Why It Matters

At Alexander Dennis, our vision is to lead the evolution of sustainable on-road mass transportation and mobility.

We design, deliver, and support market-leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission whether you're engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.

What You'll Do

As a Technician within our Test & Development department, you'll work as part of a highly skilled workshop-based team supporting vehicle test programmes at Farnborough and beyond.

  • You'll work closely with Test & Development Engineers, carrying out electrical and mechanical build, modification, instrumentation, diagnostics, and fault-finding activities.
  • Your work will help ensure vehicles are correctly configured and tested to the highest standards, both on site and at external proving grounds.

This is a practical, varied role involving prototype vehicles, advanced systems, and cutting-edge technology, including EV and hybrid platforms.

What We're Looking For

  • You'll be an experienced technician with a strong electrical and mechanical background, ideally gained within automotive or other complex engineering environments.
  • You'll be comfortable working independently, reading technical drawings, diagnosing issues, and supporting demanding test schedules.
  • You'll bring a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Thriving in a hands-on role where no two days are the same.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
