Test Automation Engineer
Location: Telford, UK – Hybrid (2 Days/Week Onsite)
Employment Type: Permanent
Experience: 6+ Years
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Test Automation Engineer with strong experience in UI, API, and database automation. The ideal candidate will be capable of building automation frameworks from scratch and integrating automated testing into CI/CD and Agile delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks.
- Automate Web, API, backend, functional, regression, and E2E testing.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop automation strategies and ensure effective test coverage.
- Analyze failures, perform root-cause analysis, and support defect resolution.
- Collaborate with developers, BAs, and stakeholders in Agile teams.
- Improve automation efficiency, stability, and execution speed.
- Promote automation best practices and mentor junior engineers.

Required Experience
- 6+ years in Test Automation Engineering.
- Proven experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
- Strong Selenium, Java, TestNG, and API automation expertise.
- Experience working in Agile, DevOps, and enterprise-scale programmes.
- Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Financial Services or Public Sector experience.
- ISTQB Certification.
- HMRC / Government / Banking project experience.
- SC Clearance, where applicable.
