Test Automation Engineer

Sparta Global are hiring a Test Automation Engineer to join a collaborative development team, supporting the delivery of high-quality software through a combination of manual and automated testing.

This role will take ownership of testing activities across the software development lifecycle, helping to maintain and improve existing test automation while contributing to the continued development of the organisation's testing approach.

This is an initial 12-Month FTC, with the goal of converting to a permanent role, and will require 1-2 Days per month on-site in Crawley.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain and execute automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Carry out manual testing where appropriate across new and existing applications.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests using technologies such as C#/.NET, Selenium, MS Test and BDDfy.
  • Support testing of applications built using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Execute and manage testing through Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression and non-functional testing.
  • Identify, investigate and clearly document defects, working closely with developers to support resolution.
  • Work with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, to validate application and data behaviour.
  • Use source control and branching approaches including Git and GitFlow.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of test automation frameworks, processes and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with developers and other technical stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support the team's potential transition towards Playwright for future test automation.

  • Strong experience across both manual and automated software testing.
  • Automation testing using C#/.NET.
  • Experience with Selenium and automated UI testing.
  • Experience with MS Test and/or BDD-style testing frameworks such as BDDfy.
  • Experience working with Git-based source control, ideally including GitFlow.
  • Experience testing applications through Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
  • Experience of non-functional testing.
  • Understanding of Docker and containerised environments.
  • Experience working within an Agile software development environment.
  • Experience testing Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications.
