Test Engineer (Inside IR35)
On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Test Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Hybrid in any UK MoJ Office.
Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Test Engineers to provide independent testing, quality assurance, defect management and release assurance across a range of End User Computing Services (EUCS) and technology transformation programmes within the Ministry of Justice.
The roles will support testing activities across both Modern Workplace and File & Data Management services, covering project delivery, service improvements, migration activities, operational releases, and assurance activities.
You will support the delivery of critical Microsoft 365, cloud, infrastructure and workplace technology initiatives, ensuring changes are thoroughly tested and validated before release into production. This will include supporting migrations, service improvements, security enhancements and operational change activity across business critical services.
As a Test Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Plan, coordinate and execute testing activities across Modern Workplace, Microsoft 365, infrastructure, cloud and EUCS transformation programmes.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test scripts, automated test assets, test evidence and assurance documentation.
- Execute functional, non-functional and release testing activities, ensuring changes are appropriately validated prior to production deployment.
- Identify, manage and track defects through to resolution, working closely with technical and delivery teams.
- Contribute to risk based testing and quality assurance practices, helping reduce operational, security and delivery risk.
- Collaborate with Delivery Managers, Engineers, Product teams and service stakeholders across multiple workstreams.
- Produce test reports, governance artefacts and assurance outcomes to support delivery and compliance decision making.
- Support testing activities associated with migrations, service transitions, security improvements, platform enhancements and technology transformation initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
