Job Title: Test Engineer (Defence / Secure Infrastructure)
Location: Corsham - Onsite
Term: 9 Months
IR35: INSIDE
Day Rate: £DOE
Security Clearance - Current & Valid UK SC Required to be considered for this opening
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer to support a high-profile defence programme.
This is a hands-on testing role working across infrastructure, networking, security, identity and interoperability, supporting the verification, validation and acceptance of a complex capability within a secure and regulated defence environment.
You will play a key role throughout the testing lifecycle, from developing test scenarios and scripts through to execution, evidence gathering, defect management, demonstrations and formal acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and execute test scripts supporting verification, validation and acceptance activities.
- Support the development and execution of the V&V plan.
- Develop and execute functional, non-functional, integration, interoperability and regression testing.
- Test infrastructure, networking, security, identity and policy-enforcement capabilities.
- Support interoperability testing between OpNET, partner systems and FMN-aligned services.
- Validate information-sharing, policy controls, auditability and traceability requirements.
- Support testing of IAM, FIAM, PKI and trust services.
- Produce test plans, procedures, scripts, evidence packs, defect reports and test reports.
- Capture and manage defects, supporting investigation, root-cause analysis and resolution.
- Support the installation, configuration and validation of test and demonstration environments.
- Work closely with architects, engineers and security specialists to support system integration and validation.
- Maintain robust test evidence for assurance, compliance, acceptance and audit purposes.
- Support FMN Spiral 6 compliance activities and Authority-witnessed demonstrations.
- Document test outcomes, lessons learned and recommendations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes, tools and methodologies.
- Deliver testing activities in line with programme milestones, configuration controls and security requirements.

What We Are Looking For
- Strong commercial experience in Test Engineering, including test planning, scripting, execution and reporting.
- Experience producing comprehensive test documentation and evidence.
- Strong functional, non-functional, integration and regression testing experience.
- Experience supporting V&V, acceptance or assurance activities within complex enterprise or infrastructure environments.
- Good understanding of systems integration and end-to-end service validation.
- Experience testing infrastructure, networks, security or identity management solutions.
- Knowledge of IAM, including authentication, authorisation and RBAC.
- Understanding of PKI, digital certificates and certificate-based trust.
- Experience working within secure, regulated or highly controlled environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against demanding programme timelines.
- Experience working within Agile, Waterfall or other structured delivery environments.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Desirable Experience
- Defence, NATO or coalition interoperability testing.
- Federated Mission Networking (FMN), particularly Spiral 6.
- Data Centric Interoperability (DCI) or secure information-sharing capabilities.
- Federated Identity and Access Management (FIAM).
- Data Centric Security, policy enforcement and metadata-based information controls.
- PKI implementations and certificate-based authentication.
- VMware, VDI or multi-tenant environments.
- Military information systems, Defence Digital, OpNET or NSoIT(D).
- Jira and Confluence.
- Formal verification, validation, demonstration and acceptance activities.
- ISTQB, Security+, VMware VCP or equivalent qualifications.
- SAFe and/or Waterfall methodologies.
