We are looking for an experienced Test Engineer with a strong background in telecom and network infrastructure testing. The role involves preparing and executing tests for routers, switches, firewalls and wider telecom services, while working closely with test, design, delivery and engineering teams.

Location and Travel

  • Candidates should be based within a reasonable commuting distance of one of the listed UK locations.
  • The role is hybrid and requires attendance at the relevant telecom office when needed.
  • Occasional customer site visits may be required, including travel to a customer lab in Spain where applicable.
  • Some attendance at Newbury HQ will be required to work with the wider telecom team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create test scripts using Test Plans, High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
  • Test network infrastructure, including routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Execute tests across hosting, Data Centre, LAN/WiFi, SD-WAN, fixed connectivity, mobility, telephony, Unified Communications, cloud, IoT and security services.
  • Support Unit, System Integration, Functional, Non-Functional, Disaster Recovery and Operational Acceptance testing.
  • Create and manage test cases in ALM and link them to business or technical requirements.
  • Collect clear test evidence for project approval, milestone sign-off and audit requirements.
  • Record test progress, results and defects in ALM and other approved tools.
  • Raise, track and retest defects, working with delivery, design and engineering teams until closure.
  • Set up and use network test equipment, including RFC 2544 throughput, latency and frame-loss testing where required.
  • Handle fibre-optic cabling and follow Data Centre procedures during physical-layer testing.
  • Use StableNet or similar network/service management tools to validate service performance and behaviour.
  • Prepare test environments and complete smoke tests and readiness checks before formal testing begins.
  • Provide clear updates for test reports, project meetings and defect-triage calls.
  • Escalate blockers to the Test Manager on the same working day.
  • Follow all security, data-handling and audit requirements.
  • Support reusable test assets, basic automation and AI-assisted test design where appropriate.
  • Assist with knowledge transfer and onboarding of new team members.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
