Test Engineer – Automation
📍 Newcastle / Manchester / Leeds – 40% onsite
🔐 BPSS Clearance Required

We’re looking for an experienced Test Engineer with strong test automation and programming skills to join a large-scale digital delivery team.
You’ll work alongside other Test Engineers to ensure applications meet requirements for functionality, usability and reliability, with a particular focus on applications built using microservices architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated tests across UI and API
- Contribute to test strategy and work closely with development and engineering teams
- Apply shift-left testing principles throughout the development lifecycle
- Support CI/CD and continuous testing within pipelines
- Identify and drive improvements to automated test suites
- Work within Agile delivery environments
- Support testing across complex microservices-based applications
- Contribute to non-functional testing, including performance, security and accessibility, where required

Key Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on test automation experience
- Good programming skills
- Experience testing microservices architectures
- Experience with BDD frameworks, particularly Cucumber
- UI automation experience using one or more of:
- Selenium
- Cypress
- Playwright
- API automation experience, ideally Rest-Assured
- Experience with CI/CD and continuous testing
- Strong understanding of shift-left testing
- Agile delivery experience
- Experience building, maintaining and improving automated test suites
