The Role
Were recruiting a Test Engineer Electrification to join a specialist engineering and test team in Basildon. The role will involve delivering customer electrification test programmes, supporting the planning, execution and reporting of test activities in line with quality, safety and customer requirements. Youll work within a multidisciplinary test environment, managing test activities and applying engineering judgement to solve customer testing challenges.
- Manage and deliver customer test programmes from quotation through to final report
- Plan and execute tests in accordance with customer requirements, international standards and QHSE processes
- Apply engineering expertise to develop test methodologies, procedures, rigs and fixtures
- Work collaboratively across different test disciplines
- Produce test documentation including risk assessments, reports and supporting records
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test capability and ways of working
- Work with internal and external customers on testing and problem resolution

What You'll Need
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Practical experience within a test or engineering laboratory environment
- Familiarity with test instrumentation, data acquisition and use of hand tools
- Good understanding of basic instrumentation, including:
- Transducers and signal conditioning equipment
- Power supplies
- Multi-meters and data loggers
- Serial communications devices
- Oscilloscopes
- Experience writing reports and technical documentation
- Good standard of MS Office skills
- Practical use of hand tools
- Strong attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach
- Good communication skills and confidence working with internal and external customers
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full driving licence
- Flexibility to support shift working when required

Desirable Experience
It would be beneficial to have experience in some of the following:
- Practical use of the instrumentation listed above within a test engineering laboratory
- Project management
- Working with DC high voltage (DCHV)
- Electric vehicle systems / EV battery technologies
- Environmental test facilities, including climatic, vibration and shock testing
- CAN (Controller Area Network) tools
- Graphical programming tools/environments
- Test sequencing, scripting and test executive software
- QHSE within a working environment
- Generating proposals and tenders for clients
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 and UKAS accreditation
Additional Information
The role is based in Basildon and operates on a 39-hour working week. Some shift working and overtime may be required depending on customer and test programme requirements. Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant must be able to achieve baseline security clearance.
