Automation Test Engineer
Location: Remote, with 1 to 2 days a month in London
Rate: £400/day Inside IR35
Duration: Until March 2027
Sector: NHS programme
Overview
We're looking for an Automation Test Engineer to join a major NHS programme. You'll build and maintain automated test frameworks using Selenium and C#, test APIs, and make sure services are accessible to every patient and user.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain automated UI test frameworks using Selenium WebDriver and C#
- Plan and run API tests, both manual and automated
- Carry out accessibility testing against WCAG 2.2 AA standards
- Build automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Raise, track and retest defects through to closure
- Work closely with developers, BAs and product owners in an Agile team
- Report test progress, coverage and risks clearly

Key Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver and C#
- Proven API testing experience using tools such as Postman, RestSharp or SpecFlow
- Accessibility testing experience with tools such as Axe, WAVE, NVDA or JAWS
- A good understanding of WCAG 2.2 standards
- Experience running automated tests in CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar)
- Comfortable working in Agile delivery teams

Desirable
- Previous NHS or public sector experience
- Knowledge of the NHS Service Standard and NHS digital service manual
- BDD experience using SpecFlow or Reqnroll
- Performance testing experience using JMeter or k6
- ISTQB certification
