Senior Software Developer in Test (Java & Azure)
Duration: Contract
Workload: Full time hours
Setup: Freelance (Daily Rate / Limited Company / Umbrella / Sole Trader)
Location: London, UK (3 days onsite per week)
Our client is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Test with strong Java automation expertise to help deliver high-quality, scalable cloud-based data and API solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and reusable testing utilities for end-to-end validation.
- Develop and execute automated test cases for REST APIs, ensuring functionality, reliability, and performance.
- Validate large-scale data pipelines running on Databricks environments.
- Drive adoption of TDD/BDD methodologies across the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to embed quality controls within GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Support cloud-native testing strategies for Azure-based platforms.
- Troubleshoot and optimise automation frameworks for scalability and maintainability.

Must-Have Skills:
- Strong Java development experience focused on test automation.
- Hands-on experience with TDD/BDD frameworks such as JUnit and Cucumber.
- REST API testing and automation expertise.
- Experience with front-to-back (F2B) testing in enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitLab.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
