Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Test Engineer for an initial 6-month contract on a rate of £450/day (Inside IR35). This role will be remote working.

Responsibilities

  • You will be part of an established agile delivery team working to deliver a new public-facing digital authorisation application service, associated back-office database, and internal back office system. This is a fast-paced, delivery-focused role where working independently whilst collaborating effectively within the wider team is key.

Essential Skills

  • Designing and executing a wide range of functional and non-functional testing techniques
  • Communicating test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Identifying defects, alerting the business to them, and helping to prioritise them based on severity
  • Creating test documentation and continually reviewing the test processes, proactively making improvements to benefit the quality of the project delivery and improve team efficiency
  • Ability to write and execute SQL queries for Oracle database testing
  • Having a good working knowledge of different tools, techniques, and frameworks including but not limited to Automated testing frameworks such as Playwright and coding languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript/NodeJS, Cross browser testing tools such as BrowserStack, Test Management Tools such as Azure DevOps Test Plans, Source Code Management tools such as Git
  • Working within agile delivery teams

  • Experience using Azure DevOps pipelines and boards as well as Azure cloud infrastructure and deployments using Azure services
  • Knowledge of Oracle database structures, triggers, and stored procedures
  • Experience with performance testing techniques and practices using tools such as JMeter
  • Understanding of Oracle APEX architecture with experience validating application functionality
  • Experience in testing applications built on the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) or Dynamics 365
  • Understanding of Angular with experience validating front-end behaviour and functionality
