Test Engineer

Location: Whiteley, Hampshire or Glasgow, Scotland

Working Pattern: Primarily remote, with travel to Whiteley or Glasgow typically required a few times per month

Security Clearance: UK SC Clearance.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Test Engineer to support the delivery of a large-scale systems integration programme.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working autonomously, takes ownership of their work, and is confident making sound decisions within their area of expertise. You'll be joining a small, highly collaborative team where every contribution makes a real impact. As such, you'll need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own priorities, and taking a pragmatic approach to solving complex challenges.

You'll work closely with the Chief Engineer, international delivery teams, suppliers, customer stakeholders, and subject matter experts to design, create, execute, and report on testing activities across a diverse technical landscape.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences. If you meet most of the requirements and are excited about the role, we'd encourage you to apply.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Creating, reviewing, and maintaining Test Plans, Test Designs, and Test Reports
  • Designing and executing test cases based on requirements, change requests, and solution designs
  • Performing functional, integration, and non-functional testing across complex systems and interfaces
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of automated regression test suites
  • Recording, tracking, and reporting test results, defects, risks, and issues
  • Investigating defects and working collaboratively with suppliers and technical teams to identify root causes and solutions
  • Engaging with customer representatives and stakeholders to ensure testing meets programme objectives
  • Identifying opportunities to improve testing processes, efficiency, and quality across the programme

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience working as a Test Engineer within complex software, infrastructure, or systems integration environments
  • Strong understanding of the software testing lifecycle and testing methodologies
  • Experience in Functional, Non-Functional, Integration, and System Testing
  • Demonstrable systems integration experience, including integrating third-party systems and components
  • Experience testing solutions and interfaces hosted within AWS cloud environments
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with technical specialists, programme leadership, suppliers, and customers
  • Experience managing testing activities in fast-paced, delivery-focused environments
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of testing deliverables with minimal supervision
  • A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to problem solving
  • ISTQB or ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing (or equivalent experience)

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
