Job Title: Test Facility Engineer – Inspector - Defence Aerospace
Location: Bristol / Onsite
Working Pattern: Full Time / Permanent
Position Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Defence Bristol Naval MRO and Test Facility for a Test Facility Engineer – Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of inspection tasks involving MRO Strip, Build & Re-work, Engine Installation and Engine Testing of the WR21 and MT30 Naval Gas Turbines.
Responsibilities
- MRO and Testing of the WR21 Engine - the prime mover for the United Kingdom’s fleet of Air Defence Type 45 Destroyers.
- MT30 testing. This product powers naval vessels for the USA, United Kingdom, Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Canada.
What you will be doing
- Become a valued team member in the Naval Test Team focusing on safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
- Inspecting and sentencing used material and ordering replacement parts to support kitting of WR21 engine parts.
- Understanding priorities and owning the commitments for turnaround of tasks working across a range of products with often tight timescales.
- Team player with energy and drive to succeed.
- Proactive approach to production system sustainment, with ability to constantly identify and implement improvements.
- Managing all tasks in line with FOD & Segregation adherence as set out in the Defence UK policy.

Position Qualification
- Time served apprentice with appropriate gas turbine inspection skills & qualified to NVQ level 3, City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of gas turbine strip and build procedures.
- Working experience of measurement tools and techniques.
- Experience of conditioning/sentencing gas turbine parts and assemblies.
Additional supplementary Skills
- Engine Borescope inspection and reporting.
- Experienced in the interpretation of repair limits.
- Risk assessment and COSHH trained.
