About The Role
Join BT Defence at a time of transformation, where testing plays a critical role in delivering secure, resilient, and innovative services across complex defence environments. As a senior Test Specialist, you'll lead end-to-end testing activities on high-profile projects, shaping test strategies, driving quality outcomes, and ensuring solutions meet the demanding standards of our customers. You'll also mentor fellow testers, influence best practice across the team, and help deliver mission-critical services that support BT's commitments to the UK Defence sector.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead end-to-end testing activities across complex Defence projects, developing test strategies and ensuring solutions are validated against customer and contractual requirements.
- Create and maintain high-quality test artefacts, including Test Strategy, Test Plans, Test Cases, Defect Reports, Progress Reports, and Completion Reports using IBM ELM.
- Execute testing across BT, customer, and supplier environments, identifying, analysing, and managing defects to support successful service delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
