Job Title: Test Technician
About the Role
Team is looking for a Test Technician to join our Device Testing group, working on a wide variety of medical and drug delivery devices. You will report to our Head of Device Testing and will work within internal project teams to support testing activities. You will be a key user of Team’s laboratories and workshops and will work primarily with supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with Team’s project activities to deliver testing milestones, particularly through hands-on testing.
- Work across a variety of projects from early-stage research & development through to formal design verification testing and post-market investigations.
- Follow health and safety procedures and guidelines when handling hazardous chemicals, pharmaceutical formulations or carrying out other activities related to the test technician role.
- Carry out mechanical and functional testing. Typically, environmental stress conditioning, detailed visual inspections and measuring physical dimensions, weight, or force.
- Additional test work could include, electronic test and build, animal by-product handling, using bespoke test rigs or use of pressurised systems.
- Follow key documents in accordance with project requirements and Team’s quality management system e.g. SOPs, WIs.
- Follow testing-related documentation e.g. test method and protocols.
- Produce a consistently high standard of test work, including generation of test data, in accordance with Team’s quality requirements and whilst working under supervision.

Qualifications & Skills
Essential
- Previous experience of successfully conducting laboratory testing
- Previous experience of adhering to Health and Safety practices and policies.
- Experience of creating test data and writing down results.
Desirable
- Good relevant degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience of working in a medical product, cGxP, ISO 13485 or other regulated industry laboratory environment.
- Proven capability to learn new technical skills and building on existing skillset.
- Previous experience of testing physical, mechanical, biological, chemical or functional characteristics of test samples.
- Previous experience of following test methods and protocols.
- Basic knowledge of Excel and rounding rules.

- Proven effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to primarily technical audiences.
- Versatility to work diligently and effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Good time management, with ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Able to work successfully to tight timelines.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a medical device consulting environment or equivalent.
- Experience of giving presentations.
