Test Technician
Join an innovative clean energy technology company developing next-generation energy storage systems designed to enable reliable, scalable and sustainable power.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on Technician to join a growing technical team and support the development of advanced flow battery technology. You'll work closely with engineers and scientists across material preparation, cell and stack assembly, testing, quality control and wider laboratory activities.
The role would suit someone who enjoys practical work, likes building and testing things, and wants to develop a broad technical skill set within a fast-moving R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities – Test Technician
- Prepare materials, components, samples and test articles for laboratory and engineering work
- Support the preparation and assembly of battery cells and stacks, including electrodes, membranes, gaskets, seals, plates and associated components
- Set up and run defined tests under the guidance of engineers and scientists
- Monitor experiments, complete routine checks and accurately record test data and observations
- Support the assembly and basic troubleshooting of test rigs and experimental equipment
- Carry out incoming inspection, measurement and QA/QC checks on components and materials
- Support sensor installation, basic wiring, instrumentation and data acquisition equipment
- Maintain accurate build records, component traceability and technical documentation
- Keep tools, equipment and work areas clean, safe and organised
- Work flexibly across materials, assembly, testing and wider laboratory activities as priorities evolve

Key Skills & Experience – Test Technician
- Practical, hands-on experience gained within a laboratory, workshop, manufacturing, engineering, testing or similar technical environment
- Comfortable working with tools, equipment, components and experimental set-ups
- Strong attention to detail when preparing materials, assembling components and recording information
- Able to follow technical procedures, SOPs, risk assessments and safety requirements
- Comfortable working across a mixture of mechanical assembly and laboratory/material preparation activities
- Proactive, curious and willing to learn new technical skills
- Reliable and organised with a strong focus on quality, safety and accuracy
- Experience within batteries, electrochemistry, fuel cells, materials, manufacturing or another technical R&D environment would be advantageous
- Exposure to testing, QA/QC, instrumentation, sensors, DAQ systems or measurement equipment would also be beneficial
